Abstract

"Almira is coming home!" This must have been the cry of joy of Almira's mother, after having spoken to her daughter in Italy through the phone. It would seem to be a happy ending, the conclusion of years characterized by physical and psychological violence and abuses. But who is Almira? Almira is one of the many trafficked women chosen,exploited- sometimes perhaps discarded-by criminal organizations for their illicit activities: sexual exploitation, theft sand pilfer ages, begging, and not only. This article aims to give voice to these young slaves, by focusing on the procedures used to recruit them, describing the tortures they are subjected to and the dirty work they are forced to do. But,thanks to the effective judicial operations and the social workers timely reports, some of these women are set free and they could make it; unfortunately, freedom will not necessarily give again the dignity of which they were deprived. This could cause serious difficulties both to the woman herself and to the other social actors. Therefore, in my piece of writing I will outline some cases, revealing these women's fears, relying on their evidence,explaining their difficulties of re-integration once saved from the organized crime networks.

"Almira torna a casa!", questo dev'essere stato l'urlo di gioia della madre bosniaca che aveva appena parlato con la figlia in Italia attraverso il telefono. Sembrerebbe un lieto fi- ne, sembrerebbe il termine di anni di violenze fisiche e psi- cologiche, di soprusi. Ma chi è Almira? Almira è una delle tante "trafficate" che le organizzazioni criminali scelgono, utilizzano e poi magari anche scartano per le loro attività il- lecite: sfruttamento a fini sessuali, piccoli furti, accattonag- gio, e non solo. L'articolo si propone di dare voce a queste giovani schiave, specificando le modalità attraverso le quali esse vengono reclutate, le terribili vessazioni cui vengono sottoposte, gli sporchi lavori a loro affidati. Grazie alle im- portanti operazioni giudiziarie e alle tempestive segnalazioni degli assistenti sociali, alcune di queste donne vengono libe- rate e "potrebbero" farcela; sfortunatamente, la libertà non necessariamente tornerà loro la dignità di cui sono state pri- vate e questo potrebbe causare grossi pericoli sia per la don- na stessa che per altri attori sociali. Nel mio scritto, dunque, tratteggerò alcune figure di queste donne, svelandone i timo- ri, raccontando le loro testimonianze, spiegando le difficoltà di inserimento una volta uscite dalle maglie della criminalità organizzata.
