Abstract

The author comments on the problems confronting the human trafficking policy of the United States -- policy that is littered with political and ideological partiality made worst by a lack of transparency or accountability in implementation. He suggests that in the process of the 2011 re-authorization of the Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act, social workers need to call for more rational, evidence-based, transparent, and accountable policy and procedures.
