Abstract

An essay is presented about the proposals to reform the legal systems in the U.S. to make them consistent with social knowledge on mature judgment and treatment efficacy of juvenile offenders. It highlights the strengths and weaknesses of the proposed justice policy options, which include the establishment of special courts and correctional facilities for offenders 18 to 24 years old. The author also suggests considerations for fairer and more effective criminal rehabilitation.
