Abstract

In order to prevent backover accidents, automatic emergency braking (AEB) can be implemented. This is important, because according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)'s data, 18,000 injuries and 292 deaths occur on average every year as a result of backover crashes. AEB uses rear sensing technology. Sensor types and technology are discussed here.
