Abstract

The Norwegian regulations which presumably criminalize injunctions to suicide on the Internet will be presented. However, there are no clear legal cases that settle the issue. It is therefore interesting to relate this issue to other limits to the right to free speech such as the prohibition against harassment and the prohibition against spreading child pornography. In Norway the National Criminal Investigation Service of the Norwegian Police is collaborating with Telenor, 'the largest telephone operator' about operating a filter against child pornography. This may possibly serve as a model for how to stop Internet pages that make injunctions to suicide and provide detailed instructions on suicide methods.
