Abstract

Aim: To study social, somatic, psychological and psychopathological peculiarities of children and teenagers that made suicidal attempts. 132 cases of suicidal poisoning of children (84 girls, 48 boys) admitted in acute period (n = 104) and according to medical cards (n = 28) were analyzed. To assess anxiety and depression Hamilton Assessment Depression and Anxiety Scales were used. To reveal somatic disorders medical history was analyzed, physical examination and specialists; examination were made. 69 examined children had significant depression (in averagely 14,60+/-0,82 points) and anxiety (19,47+/-1,10 points). Somatic disorders: respiratory system pathology - 31, 2%; digestive system pathology - 26,2%; vegetative-vascular dystonia - 18,3%; other - 24,6%. Neurological and neuro-psychical disorders: residual organic pathology of CNS - 31,2%; pathological reactions - 21,3%; accentuation of a character 9,8%; diencephalic syndrome - 6,6%; epilepsy - 1,6%; brain injury in the past 8,2%. Family: 60% - both parents; 35,6% - single-parent family; 4,4% from boarding schools. In 35% families one unemployed parent, in 9% - both. Housing conditions: 60% - no information, 39% - good, 53% - satisfactory, 8% - unsatisfactory. Thus, the need of rehabilitation program with the use of antidepressants and psychotherapy is clear.
