Abstract

In the approach to home and leisure safety problems four phases can be distinguished, i.e., priority setting, analysis, intervention, and evaluation. These phases must all be given specific attention, preferably in connection with each other. Several aspects of research and prevention activities in the field of home and leisure safety are discussed in this paper, including the application of accident models. Considering the nature of most problems it is concluded that only a rather general accident model is widely applicable. Nevertheless, under certain conditions more specific models can be very useful.
