Abstract

There have been five significant gatherings of psychologists interested in Chicano psychology. The authors summarize the events surrounding the first four meetings on Chicano psychology to provide a context for discussing the most recent national conference on Chicano psychology, which took place 16 years after the last such meeting. A historical overview of previous conferences and key events is provided. In presenting a summary of the most recent conference on Chicano psychology, the goal was to preserve a written record for future generations of scholars interested in the intellectual developments and persons involved in the field of Chicano psychology. Lessons learned from this last conference and the personal reflections of the authors on the meaning of the conference also are supplied in this report.
