Abstract

Letter: Like many, we were dismayed by Thierry Henry's use of his hand to guide the French to a controversial last-minute win against Ireland in the World Cup qualifier (18/11/09). Over the following week, press coverage turned to the possibility of FIFA (International Federation of Association Football) introducing video evidence to aid referees in crucial decisions. With so many financial implications resting on decisions made by referees, many argue that it is negligent to continue without the video technology available.<
