Abstract

Many GPs want to learn the basics of how best to manage the increasing numbers of patients seen in the surgery with sports injuries. To create a more satisfied patient, this should include how to advise patients in simple management of the acute injury as well as preventive measures. Dr Ben Gilfeather writes of the common injuries to muscles encountered in rugby and urges GPs to take an opportunistic approach to educating youngsters involved in sport.
