Abstract

This article describes FOREWARN, a near object detection device and automatic warning system. It employs microwave radar sensors to detect motion in danger zones. Current applications include use on school buses to provide enhanced visibility and movement detection. Future technology could give warning of impending collisions tailgating, unsafe lane change situations or object lying on the road.
