Abstract

You may never get 100% of domestic violence victims to confide in you, but with the proper tools and approach, you can increase the number of victims and at-risk patients your ED identifies. Incorporate computer-based risk assessment as part of a screening involving of general physical and emotional health issues. Be sure to have your screening conducted in private area where no one but the patients can see their answers. Ask your follow-up questions in a confidential, concerned, and nonjudgmental fashion.
