Abstract

The dominating influence of ventilation on the expired breath alcohol concentration is demonstrated by means of computer simulations of the exchange processes in the lung. Evaluation of the results shows that in order to obtain reliable information on the actual alveolar breath, alcohol concentration control of the ventilation conditions prior to and during test is essential.
