Abstract

The German standard DIN VDE 0405 for evidential breath alcohol analysis incorporates requirements for the flow rate as well as for the pressure. This affects the minimum flow rate during exhalation, the increase of pressure due to the resistance of the gas collecting system and the decrease of pressure within the mouthpiece. A measuring device based on a differential pressure transducer was assembled to perform the measurements. The device can also be used to register the flow profile of each individual. The obtained profiles can be assigned to different types.
