Abstract

A study was undertaken in the Bonn area of persons who, during 1965 to 1977, had a BAC of more than 0.3%. The 1973-1977 cases were compared with Schierbaum's study of 1965-1972. Special attention was paid to the forensic diagnostic potential of alcoholism and its evaluation in the light of the 'Strafrechtsveraenderungsreform 1975'. A fourfold increase was found in this particular group and decrease in the evaluation of culpability by medical experts as judged from 100 cases. The possible reasons for this adverse development are discussed.
