Abstract

The LKB-substrate-analyzer 2074 has been applied to automated blood alcoholic analysis according to the ADH-method. After deproteinization the preparation of the blood sample (addition of reagents, mixing) was simplified by using a diluter, whereas measuring of the incubation mixture and calculation of the results is automatically performed. After incubation of the reaction mixture the absorption was measured at 340 mm in the substrate analyzer using disposable cuvettes. The absorption data are processed in a computer and the blood alcohol concentration is calculated and printed out considering correction and calibration factors which have been programmed previously. Regarding precision and reproducibility of measurement, a statistical evaluation of the results confirms that the LKB-substrate-analyzer 2074 can be successfully applied to routine analysis of blood alcohol concentration according to the ADH-method.
