Abstract

Since the amendment of the German road traffic law forensic breath alcohol analysis may also be applied in Germany. The necessary technical requirements are laid down in the German standard DIN VDE 0405 and are fulfilled by the Drager Alcotest 7110 Evidential. For all parameters to be measured, including breath temperature, it uses two independent sensor systems and requires two single breath samples. The type approval and official calibration of the device provides another quality assurance, independent of manufacturer and user.
