Abstract

The author reviews in a preliminary report on the post-schooling model for the improvement of alcohol-conspicuous first offenders in Baden-Wurttemberg, the qualitative and quantitative interest in the measures applied as a penal sanction. Legal proceedings, penal judgements and the view of public prosecutors are summarised, critical arguments against drivers' improvement measures are discussed, e.g. the fear that the principle of equality could be violated, the lack of proof of efficacy of the measures and the possible danger caused by too great a variety of models. The present experiences and many opinions expressed regarding post-schooling encourage the continuation of the policy adopted.
