Abstract

In an experimental study 239 pairs of values from simultaneous blood and breath alcohol concentrations were evaluated. The statistical evaluation of the data showed a mean difference between the pairs of (mu) = +0.01671 (per mille) and a variance of (sigma) = 0.08461 (per mille). The largest differences between the pairs were -0.30 (per mille) and 0.26 (per mille). The differences were unrelated to the alcohol concentrations. A discrepancy of (plus or minus) 0.30 (per mille) should be taken into consideration in the forensically relevant concentration range.
