Abstract

The subjective perceptibility of an alcohol (Vodka) addition to beer and coffee was tested by a twofold drinking - experiment. The addition of 20 ml of Vodka to 0,3 l of beer was not noticed by any of the six subjects. 10 ml of Vodka added to a cup of coffee was not noticed either, whereas only two of seven subjects had a specific perception of 20 ml of Vodka in a cup of coffee. It may be inferred that under the employed conditions of a double - blind study changes of the taste and smell of beer and coffee by adding Vodka are not definitely perceptible. The statement that the addition may and must have been perceived in a case must therefore be refuted.
