Abstract

Methanol content of commercial fruit-juices and juices of fruits and vegetables squeezed out of commercial ripe fruits was gas chromatographically determined. The values found seemed not irrelevant, whereas corresponding examinations with refreshments were negative. The presence of methanol in fruit juices etc. must be considered when determining the congener contents of alcoholic beverages and blood. High blood methanol values may be caused by the respective juices. More meaningful are, therefore, low (or negative) blood methanol values - especially if post-offence drinking of an alcoholic drink with a high content of methanol is claimed.
