Abstract

The revised Swiss traffic law (SVG) came into force on 1st January 2005 in Switzerland. The alcohol threshold was reduced to 0.50 per mille. Alcohol values in the region of 0.50 to 0.75 per mille may be recognised by the person and would then legally become a matter in court. Analytical threshold values were introduced for some narcotics with regards to their registration limit value so that there is basically a zero tolerance for these drugs. Requirements for both the examination laboratories, which carry out blood alcohol testing and drug testing in road traffic as well as the experts, are now clearly laid out in federal directives.
