Abstract

The aim of this case-control study was to explore the association between the sedentary behaviour and the risk of depression development in elderly. We evaluated 348 subjects (average age 68 years, 182 men and 166 women) regarding the exercise regime and the clinical signs of depression. The results of this study showed an important association between depression and sedentarism in elderly, stronger in men than in women (p=0.001).
