Abstract

Urban sprawl is an issue that has allocated many discussions to itself in academic, policy making and executive departments. Although sprawl is an American phenomenon, but it should be indicated that it's different by environmental, economic, social and political situations. In recent decades, urban growth has not been adopted with residents needs and as a result of this process, many lands have been utilized for construction. Regarding to mentioned issues in cities, this article attempts to surveys the results of sprawl by precise cognition of characteristics and causes and introduces appropriate policies at the end of it. Controlling travels, participation in providing infrastructures costs, controlling growth and protection of lands and redevelopment of inner-core regions are some of proposed policies
