Abstract

Note: This publication examined the effects of participation in the Improving Social Awareness-Social Problem Solving (ISA-SPS) Project in grades 4 and 5 with self-destructive behavior (antisocial behavior and alcohol and tobacco use) in high school. Involvement in the ISA-SPS Project seemed to strengthen social competence and prosocial behavior.
The ISA-SPS is a school-based problem solving and social skills development/prevention program for at risk elementary and middle school students. The ISA-SPS is now known as the Social Decision Making and Problem Solving Program (SDM/PS).

For more information on the Social Decision Making and Problem Solving Program (SDM/PS), see VioPro record number 4072.
