Abstract

This is a study of 528 adolescents who regularly attend churches affiliated with primary Protestant denominations in a Midwestern state. The purpose is to determine if the delinquency syndrome argument has more validity in a religious sample than noted in the general population of youth. The findings support the delinquency syndrome argument in this sample of religious youth, and show that religiosity is relevant to alcohol use and not to crime.
