Abstract

Note: This publication evaluated the effectiveness of Safe Haven Program, a family skills training program for African-American families, for the prevention of substance use among inner-city African-American children. The Safe Haven Program is a replication of the Strengthening Families Program (SFP), a family skills training program designed to reduce risk factors for substance use and other problem behaviors in high-risk children of substance abusers including behavioral, emotional, academic, and social problems.
