Abstract

"Risk Communication" is a concept not well integrated into risk management system in Japanese process industry. This study aims at construction of intellectual base for extraction of hypothesis and exploration of applicable model for process industry in Japan through investigation of current situation of communication on environment and safety communication of the industry with general public. The study showed particular attitudes of the industry such as 1) positive on document type communication, 2) not positive on direct communication with nearby residents, and 3) not positive on provision of 'risk' information.
