Abstract

Interface Agent is a user interface, which integrates spoken language and character animation in a synchronized way. Thanks to its embodied representation, this interface has potential for communicating with human users effectively. This paper focuses on interface agent as a media technology that supports knowledge circulation process in information society, and discusses its functions and applicability to risk communication. As implemented examples, we describe S-POC system, which is a risk communication supporting system, and CAST-RISA system, which is an interface agent system working in S-POC.
