Abstract

Respect for elders and protection for weakers are the two basic human values that all societies have been promoting since the beginning of human civilization. Family and education institutions have been responsible for inculcating such values in each individual. However, these values are eroding in almost all societies and elder abuse is the result of such behavioral deviation. It is rapidly becoming a major concern with changing socioeconomic paradigms and the growing number of elderly population.
