Abstract

Presents a letter to the editor concerning prior publications. A policy of prior publication of articles paid for by their authors can certainly be used to increase the budgeted number of pages per volume without additional cost to the APA, but this circumstance does not necessarily justify the policy unless one assumes that it is better to have more pages per volume. The APA should weigh the desirability of asking its editors to give preferment to articles in which superfluous embellishments have been minimized.
