Abstract

To find out the relationship between the energy dissipation and collapses of latticed shell structures under seismic action the research on energy dissipation of single layer latticed shell structure was carried out. At first the calculation methods of all kinds of energies such as elastic strain energy, plastic strain energy, damping energy and kinetic energy were deduced. Then some typical characters of these kinds of energies were analyzed taking a practical single layer latticed shell structure as example. The results show that when the small seism acts on the single layer latticed shell structure, the elastic strain energy, damping energy and kinetic energy consume the input seismic energy together. But when the strong seism acts on the structure, the plastic strain energy arises and turns into the primary component to consume the input seismic energy and when the plastic strain energy exceeds the limit state, the structure loses the resistance capacity and collapses.
