Abstract

Min River is one of the longest rivers in southeast China. With dense population and development in Min River basin, this area is highly vulnerable to the most frequently occurring flooding. This study presents an overview of Min River flood characteristics as well as the flood-related factors such as climate, topography and socio-economic features. In the further study, this study provides observation on existing flood control arrangements in reducing the impact of floods and gives some insight into the challenges ahead.
