Abstract

The aim of analyzing transport systems is to predict changes in traffic flows as a result of changes in transport options that may generate impacts in the form of tiresome noise, stress, polluted air, violent deaths and social upheavals. The evaluation of such impacts is vital in decision-making, so variables describing them need to be established and indicators characterizing those variables need to be defined, with such indicators being specified as a number, a classification or a set of elements serving as a basis for describing, assessing and quantifying the impact caused. In the course of this paper we propose indicators, establish a procedure specifying how they may be used and validate them by applying them in a case study.
