Abstract

Injury is a significant health issue for Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations. Improvements in ascertainment of Indigenous status within hospital data for New South Wales (NSW) and Victoria (VIC) have enabled their inclusion in national analyses. Variation in the distribution of Indigenous people by remoteness within New South Wales and Victoria compared to other states and territories has the potential to change the injury profile of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
