Abstract

Worldwide, injuries represent a significant public health issue, with around five million fatal injuries identified each year. While largely preventable, injuries are one of the leading causes of mortality and hospitalisation in Australia. In many cases, individuals who sustain a serious injury are left with severe disabilities that can affect their quality of life and often result in them requiring access to ongoing health care.
