Abstract

Sixty male students drove 10 nails with each of three hammers (0° bend, 10° bend and 15° bend). Handle angle did not significantly affect the depth the nails were driven, or the angle of the nail in the left-right direction. The mean front-to-back nail angle of .3° for the 0° bend handle was significantly different from the −1.1° for the 10° handle and the −1.2° for the 15° handle. There was a significant preference for the 10° handle; the vote of 121% for the 10° handle was significantly higher than the 100% for the 0° handle and the 97% for the 15° handle.
