Abstract

The British Safety Council issued its second annual survey that examined the attitudes of managers and workers towards safety measures at workplaces. The survey revealed that 95% of the managers stated that they were aware about their legal obligations towards improving workplace safety. Detailed examination revealed that around 26% of them were unaware of three main components of safety legislation and advice, such as Health and Safety (Offences) Act 1978, the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007, and the Institute of Directors Guidance for Directors. The survey also revealed that a number of companies in the country were decreasing investments in safety and health training in workplaces. It was revealed that 11% of companies were cutting back of their health and safety consultants in workplaces.
