Abstract

Over the last decade, advancements have been made to benefit lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer communities. Despite these improvements, inequalities remain in the personal and collective experiences of bisexual people. These disparities can be addressed through a solution at the intersection of the public health social work field. Viewing antibisexual violence through an ecological lens reveals the impact that heterosexism, homophobia, biphobia and monosexism have at the institutional, community, interpersonal and individual levels. A three-tiered disease prevention model can be adopted to address antibisexual violence and thereby decrease the negative impact of violence, educate practitioners and end violence before it occurs.
