Abstract

Difficulties in determining blood alcohol content in 135 cases when a court expertise is called for, are due to the fact that medical records of alcohol-impaired drivers involved in road accidents are often incomplete. The following are some of the shortages of medical records and documentation: absence of urine tests, no blood and urine tests in cases of positive breath-tests, incomplete forms and records (some vital information omitted), no blood samples taken for laboratory tests in hospitals, and some failures in taking samples in autopsies.
