Abstract

The effects of information reduction, i.e., information in stimuli, Nsi ≥ information in responses, Nrj is investigated. Nine subjects were tested for this study. Each subject performed combined manual and decision task using two distinct "reaches" (Rk) under three levels of Nsi and five levels of Nrj. Pulse Rate Difference (PRD), i.e., pulse rate while performing the task less pulse rate at rest were used as a response variable. The investigations have revealed that Nsi, Nrj and Rk are significant variables and also that for a given Rk, PRD increases as (Nsi - Nrj) decreases.
