Abstract

Even though the allocated Federal spending on critical issues such as drug interdiction is still limited by bureaucracy, the new closely-associated military and law-enforcement/forensic market are turning to more modern detector technologies. In the military, the biggest issue continues to be in identifying and adopting commercial off-the-shelf technology that can truly meet military specifications. While the subject on drug interdiction is played out as a political posturing point, prime government programs such as JSTAR were expected to become huge markets for military contractors. Even forensic imaging toward the courtroom has been increasing in terminal scope such as tracing evidence and criminal scene data for high profile rape and murder cases.
