Abstract

Psychological science has a long tradition of formal modelling; however, the use of such models has begun to emerge only recently for eyewitness identification. Development and application of memory and decision models is critical to the advancement of eyewitness identification research. Formal modelling techniques are important not only to the advancement of the science but also to applications of the science through expert testimony and policy recommendations.
