Abstract

Entre los estudios que han abordado la problemática de la violencia familiar, algunos se han centrado en el análisis de la percepción social de la víctima de la agresión. El presente trabajo pretende comprobar si las mujeres que son víctimas de agresiones por parte de su pareja son percibidas de forma diferente en función de que se haya producido o no una provocación verbal antes de ser maltratadas. Los sujetos debían responder a una serie de cuestiones sobre un suceso de violencia familiar tras haber leido una noticia de prensa ficticia. En un primer grupo, el suceso de malos tratos no incluía provocación verbal por parte de la mujer; en el segundo y en el tercer grupo el incidente era idéntico, pero incluía dos niveles de provocación, leve y fuerte respectivamente. Entre los resultados más destacados se encontró que el comportamiento de la víctima resulta más compresible cuando se enfrenta verbalmente a su agresor. A number of studies dealing with domestic violence have focused on the analysis of the social percepction held of the victim of such violence. This research aims towards checking if women who are victims of agressions inflicted by their partners are perceived in a different way depending on whether there has been verbal provocation or not before the agression. Subjects were requested to answer a series of questions about an incident of domestic violence after having read a ficticious article. In the first group, the incident did not include verbal provocation by the woman. In the second and third group the incident was identical, but included two levels of verbal provocation: light and strong, respectively. One of the most interesting results of this research is that the victim's behavior is better understood when she verbally confronts her agressor.
