Abstract

In this paper we investigate the question 'What kind of information is contained in temperature fluctuation concerning fire detection?'. To answer this question, the Swiss Company CERBERUS AG developed a special sensor for measuring the fluctuations, being robust to environmental factors. With this sensor it is possible to distinguish between a fire in a cold room or air flow through an open window in a warm room only by the fluctuations. In addition, we discuss the evolutionary spectrum from some typical fire and non-fire signals.
