Abstract

Over the last century psychotherapy has developed alongside technology and legal test cases, with each impacting on the other. Client confidentiality is no longer simply a moral obligation on the part of the psychotherapist or a valuable psychotherapeutic tool. It is tied up in complex legislation and legal rights, duties and obligations as well as codes of ethics and conduct issued by each of the psychotherapy organizations.
