Abstract

Assessment of parental satisfaction with mental health services for children remains a largely neglected area. This paper reports on results of a pilot study of parent satisfaction undertaken in a large, urban state psychiatric center. Data were collected via an anonymous, post-discharge, mailed questionnaire utilizing the Client Satisfaction Questionnaire (CSQ). Results suggest that the CSQ is an easily employed and effective tool for assessing parental satisfaction and that analysis of inter-item variation may be useful in identifying relatively unsatisfactory aspects of care.
