Abstract

The topic 'Reliability--Risks, Resources, Rewards' has received wide attention from reliability engineers and theoreticians in the past few years. Their concern has been emphasized by several factors such as the increased complexity of systems, increased quality requirements, and the rising costs of resources. So far, most of the reliability studies and modelling that were structured from purely theoretical behaviour or purely practical considerations suffer from inherent problems.

This paper puts forward some of the problem areas encountered in reliability studies and discusses possible solutions and future developments and applications.
