Abstract

Physical models for the behaviour of fire in a nuclear power plant compartment are developed. The models are synthesized from information in the fire research literature, and the uncertainties in their predictions are discussed. The models are then used to simulate a number of experimental fires, and their predictions are compared with the actual data. The emphasis of the analysis is placed on the periods of fire growth and fully developed burning.
