Abstract |
This article reports findings of a study which examined how the child affects the curriculum. The curriculum in two kindergarten classrooms in the same school district of a large midwestern city was studied, using ethnographic research methods. In addition, the verbal behavior of 3 boys and 3 girls in each classroom was recorded and analyzed as one measure of "effective" behavior. In both classrooms, despite the type of curriculum orientation, boys engaged in more verbal behavior than girls. It was concluded that according to the definitions of this study, boys were more effective than girls. |
